African champions, the Super Eagles of Nigeria, began their Africa
Cup of Nations quaifying series, with a shock 3-2 loss to Congo at the
U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar on Saturday.
The hosts took an early, after Efe A.mbrose got the final touch to an
Ahmed Musa free-kick, before the Congolese stormed down the right
almost immediately to level scores.

LeRoy’s team took the lead before the interval, with a well-worked goal
and were two goals in front after the referee awarded a penalty in the
second half.
Nosa Igiebor missed from two yards out, before Gbolahan Salami
smashed in from a scramble inside the box to set up a grandstand finish.
In the end, it was not enough, as the Eagles could not find an
equalizer in the six minutes added on.Stephen Keshi’s men play South Africa who beat Sudan 3-0 next.
